Empowering Your Renovation Vision

Transforming Homes, Building Dreams

Brad Suskind

I’ve built and managed over $75,000,000 in custom home remodels in Chicago, New York, and the San Francisco Bay area. I’m proudest of my collaborations across teams, markets, and economic strata to bring my clients’ visions to life.

A midwest native, I grew up in a culture that rewarded hard work, integrity, and team effort. Earning my B.S. in Finance from Miami University, Ohio, I figured I’d head to Chicago after graduating, but a two week road trip to San Francisco turned into a twenty-seven year journey.

I was a day trader until the dotcom market crashed, and, like most around me, I struggled to make ends meet until a fateful call from a friend. He was under deadline on a restaurant renovation and asked me to help with the final touches. I soon realized I’d found my passion.

I was fortunate to quickly team with an apartment owner, a real estate developer, and the general manager of a residential remodeling firm. They were willing to take a chance on a thirty-year-old finance professional with virtually no construction experience. They shaped my practice of building and maintaining solid, long-term working relationships. Over the next four years I learned every aspect of the industry, from plumbing to electrical to carpentry and fixture installation, evolving from apprentice to foreman to superintendent. From foundation to finish, I can build a house with my own two hands.

In 2006 we established Thompson Suskind, LP General Contractors, one of the premier custom home builders in the Bay Area. Earthquake-prone San Francisco has some of the toughest building codes in the world, and working in tight spaces with zero lot lines requires creative execution and constant cooperation within the community. A team is frequently a team in name only. True teamwork requires thoughtful assembly and diligent communication.
